Lough Corrib Ferox

Ireland’s Lough Corrib has once again proven its big trout potential with the capture of a 19lb-plus Ferox.

Angling Times understands the immense predator was taken on a dead roach presented in deep water. The fish was killed and is to be mountedas a trophy  in a local bar, however other trout taken in the trip were released.

The current Irish record for Ferox stands at 26lb 2oz and was taken from Lough Ennell.

Angling Times editor Richard Lee, who has taken predatory trout to double figures from Irish loughs, said: “This is one very special fish and once again proves Corrib’s incredible pedigree. Opinions will be divided as to the decision to kill the fish.”

Ferox is a term given to wild brown trout that have grown large by eating a fish diet rather than fly life.
