16lb 10oz Zander pb landed

A 12-year wait to break his zander personal best finally ended for specimen ace Craig Woolhouse when he bagged two double-figure specimens in one session – topped by this fish of 16lb 10oz. 

The Leicester angler targeted a stretch of the River Trent, where he bagged the giant and another zed weighing 13lb 14oz on legered roach deadbaits. 

The larger of the two fish easily beats Craig’s previous best for the species of 14lb 4oz. 

He told Angling Times: “I wouldn’t say that I cried, but after I had released the fish and watched it swim away strongly, I sat on my bedchair and got quite watery-eyed.

“I was probably reflecting on the years and countless freezing days and nights that I had spent in search of a zander of this size.”
