Mega brace of big barbel for Dean Macey

The Big Fish Off TV star Dean Macey has broken his barbel personal best with a stunning 16lb 2oz fish, just 24 hours after banking one of 14lb 14oz too!

Both bronze bullets came from the River Lea where the Tackle Guru man wrapped a Mainline Hybrid boilie in matching paste, on a simple running rig.

"It's always a real buzz catching fish for the cameras when you're shooting for TV, but I really can't wait to get out there and do my own fishing. This catch means a great deal to me and alongside an 8lb chub, it's my best ever fish!" he said.

 

Huge chub on a lure from the River Thames

Justin Beale took this superb 7lb 9oz chub on a tiny 3g jig head from a slack on the River Thames.

He had a hunch that a banker stretch for barbel held a few extra-large chub and he was proved right with his personal best for this venue.

Targeting the river with a 1.5g rod, 6lb braid and a 3lb fluorocarbon leader, pausing the lure induced the take.  

Angler catches 98lb catfish... in Essex!

This near 100lb wels catfish wasn't taken from France, Spain or Italy but a small lake in Essex!

Carl Bunni made the memorable capture from Slough House Fisheries, after a battle lasting 40 minutes.  

The 28-year-old used three tuna and garlic boilies.
