Sonik unveil new gear for 2019
Sonik’s trade show at Barston Lakes was a revelation – for all the right reasons.
The company, specialising in big-carp gear, presented new short Xtractor rods and, at the other end of the scale, top-end distance casting Gravity XT models.
To these were added affordable 5000 and 6000-sized Vader X freespool reels and an impressive Tournos XD big pit-style reel with a quick-fold handle.
Sonik also unveiled its SKS Alarm and Receiver Set, which comes in at a very reasonable price and includes a free bivvy light.
This set is ideal for carp fans, and the growing army of specialist barbel anglers, with a couple of features sure to appeal to the running water enthusiast.
Other star turns included superb new SK-TEK luggage, Vader X spinning rods, and the novel Armatek 60 brolly shelter/bivvy.

ARMATEK 60 BROLLY
AS admired by Carpfeed’s Thom Airs, Sonik’s Armatek 60 Brolly is Intelligent, functional and durable.
The space-saving compact hub design and flat-back frame provide plenty of bedchair placement room. A clip-in vapour guard keeps internal dampness at bay, and there are two handy roll-out organiser storage panels. The letterbox door design, removable front section, mozzie mesh panels and rear ent section are well thought out, and a front drip guard add protection.

SKS ALARM & RECEIVER SET
Sonik’s tough new triple SKS Alarm and Wireless Receiver set’s technical features include twin multi-colour LEDs in Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple and White, forward and back-drop indication, colour select nite–functions, one-touch intelligent mute system and volume and tone setting.
The alarms come with screw-on snag ears, and the amount of line travel you can achieve with the alarms set to their lowest sensitivity setting will excite nocturnal fishing fans. It comes in a case with individual protective covers… oh, and you get a free bivvy light too.

SK-TEK COMPACT ROD SLEEVES
These space-saving multi-sleeves will safely store and transport 10ft, 12ft and 13ft rods, plus nets, banksticks and weigh slings. Their two-up, one-down internal layout presents a super-slim profile, but they will take big pit-style reels as well as rods with 50mm butt guides.
Fully padded dividers and Velcro straps keep everything safe and secure in transit.
A side pocket system can be extended to hold a brolly-type shelter, and two extra rods can be strapped on to the outside of the holdall.

Ideal reels for the specimen angler or big fish commercial matchman, Sonik’s two new Free-Spool models are built to last, with chunky hollow metal bail-arms, and tough lightweight graphite bodies and rotor. Specifications include independent free-spool rear, micro adjust front drag, oversized line friendly line clip, and five stainless ball bearings. They also come with two CNC machined spools.

SK-TEK RUCKBAG

XTRACTOR CARP RODS
THESE short rods with a retractable butt section are very much ‘on trend’.
They come in 9ft and 10ft lengths, with closed lengths of 113cm (44ins) and 127cm (50ins) – just the size to fit into a car boot, and perfect for small waters and stalking tactics where distance casting isn’t a priority.
The slim, matt black carbon blanks have full Japanese shrink rubber handles, custom 17mm black reel seats, a line-friendly Sonik clip, and super-light cult black M-Series guides with anti-frap ceramic tip rings.

Features include Fuji reel seats and light, low-profile black DL SiC guides with 50mm butts and anti-frap tips.

Xtractor Carp rod sleeves
Designed to accept Sonik’s latest 9ft and 10ft rods, these holdalls have a zipped lead carrying pocket, side-webbing strap to take two banksticks, plus a side-fitted utility pocket for a landing net and handle.
Made from a tough SK-Tek camo design material, they also feature back-facing zips to prevent line trap, and a unique connector point system which allows the holdalls to be joined together.
