I’m having problems using a throwing stick… firstly, most of the baits land in the water at my feet, and secondly when I do get them to go further the boilies invariably split in half. Any advice?
OZ HOLNESS:
To combat your first problem, it is all down to technique. If you snatch at it and throw the stick towards the margins, that is where the baits will end up. Try to finish with the stick pointing at a 45-degree angle - the baits will go much higher and fly more truly.
If you are having issues with splitting, dip the tip of the stick in the water, shake it out and try doing it again. The dry, sharp edge to the stick can often be the reason for them splitting. If this still doesn’t solve the issue, then look into air drying the boilies for the period of time, even just for a day. This will harden the baits and reduce the chances of them splitting.
