Polefished worm fools new personal best perch

Ryan Hayden drew inspiration from Martin Bowler’s Catching the Impossible film to bank this impressive 4lb perch from the Upper Great Ouse near Buckingham, smashing his personal best in the process.

The 19-year-old student, from Brackley in Northants, polefished a lobworm hookbait with a flat float on the far bank of a club-owned stretch of the river, keeping the 7ft-deep swim topped up with a mix of chopped dendrobaenas, casters and red maggots throughout his morning session.
