BEST-SELLING CENTREPIN NOW IN GOFISHING SHOP
This new Ikonix Centrepin from Waterline has been described as ‘simply stunning’ by anglers who’ve managed to get their hands on one this season.
A real quick seller, we have just secured 200 of them at a special price and are passing on the savings to Go Fishing’s online shop users.
There are loads of fishermen going back to centrepins – some reliving their youth – and others picking them for their amazing smoothness which allows you to run a float down a river perfectly.
If you love traditional barbel and chub fishing then they’re a vital part of your kit and are already being used for float and legering tactics on the rivers.
For the modern stillwater angler they’re becoming the ‘in’ reel for attaching to a long rod and fishing in the margins of day ticket waters for carp and tench.
Angling Times’ Steve Fitzpatrick is one of a growing band of ‘pin converts.
“I’ve seen a lot of anglers fishing with ‘pins on 13ft-plus float rods in the past 12months and it looked like such a fabulous way of fishing I had to give it a go myself and headed to a club water near the Angling Times offices.
“With a piece of paste dropped over the top of a few pellets fed down the edge it wasn’t long before a carp was making the centrepin’s ratchet scream,” said Steve.
“And what I thought would be a tough ask for a ‘pin actually turned out to be a very enjoyable way of fishing and I felt brought the sporting element back to catching big fish from the margins.”
The Ikonix Centrepin features a traditional design with a 4.25in diameter large arbour drum and spool each machine cut from one piece of metal.
Weighing just 219g, it is also ultra-smooth when running and a single flick of the spool gets it spinning for ages.
“For me this is a 100 quid quality centrepin at around half that price,” added Steve.

John Searl - the man behind the free roach print in Angling Times
John Searl - the artist responsible for the stunning roach print free with this week’s Angling Times - is one of angling’s leading creative lights.
Born in London in 1949, John worked as an artist and illustrator in the capital before following a lifelong passion and branching out into angling-related pieces in the ‘90s.
His contribution to the classic ‘Red Letter Days’ (a tribute to John’s angling hero, Bernard Venables), along with illustrations for books by legends such as Peter Stone and Fred J Taylor, ensured his artwork quickly became sought-after by enthusiasts.
Subjects such as large barbel, tench, chub, roach, grayling, salmon, perch and - perhaps most famously - both Richard Walker and Chris Yates’ historic record carp, are all based on real captures and rendered in hand-drawn, full-colour detail.
Some of John’s prints fetch thousands of pounds and his latest work, exclusively drawn for AT, is sure to become another highly collectable piece.
It is the first of three illustrations commissioned by both Angling Times and Shimano, as part of the tackle company’s 90th anniversary celebrations.
The second, based around a tench, will appear as another glossy poster on April 12, while the third, of a carp, is due to come free with AT on April 19.
“This first print, created exclusively for Angling Times’ readers, is called ‘Pin Perfect’ because the reel in the picture is a Paul Witcher Avon Elite centrepin and the fish was a 3lb 3oz roach,” said John.
“The second and third will be tench and carp respectively, and they will also feature elements of Shimano’s rich history with tackle.”
The limited-edition, full-size 100- run version of all three prints appearing in Angling Times (roach, tench and carp) can be bought for £95 each (unframed) plus £5 postage and packaging. You can also purchase any of John’s previous works through our website. Each will be signed, numbered and printed on the finest quality art paper. £25 OFF NEW JOHN WILSON AVON QUIVER DELUXE ROD
John Wilson’s Avon Quiver is probably the best-selling rod of all time - and now it’s back, and even better than ever before.
Go Fishing and Chapman’s Angling have this week secured a limited number of this impressive new rod at a great price - instead of the £79.99 RRP you can get it for just £54.99 + £7.99 p&p.
Instead of just 11ft, the new Deluxe version comes as a multi-length, 11ft-13ft rod making it even more versatile on the bank.
The Rovex John Wilson Avon Quiver Deluxe has been designed by John and made to the highest standards with high carbon, lightweight blanks and top class fittings.
It features two top sections, one is a standard Avon top, the other a quiver tip section which is supplied with a choice of three different push in tips.
A dolly but section enables the rod to be fished at both 11ft and 13ft lengths giving you extra length and casting power for longer chucks, or a shorter rod for more finesse.
With the float top in place you can fish down the margins with a float, or up in the water with a pellet waggler. With a quick change of the top section, you can be fishing a bomb, feeder, method or the PVA bag within a matter of minutes!
The rod also copes effortlessly on the rivers for chub and barbel too and the multiple tops and tips make it a one stop rod for finesse or power.
“This is the rod thousands of anglers have got in their holdalls, isn’t it time you got your hands on one too?” said Angling Times’ Steve Fitzpatrick.
“Build quality is as high as you’d expect from a rod that has to match up to John’s standards and is so versatile you might never need to buy another rod.”

Avanti Reveal New Ready-To-Fish Commercial Pole And Kits
Match tackle giant Avanti has launched a new 11m pole package that’s perfect for commercial fisheries – and comes ready elasticated with three top kits too!
Due to hit our Go Fishing online shop this week, the Avanti Hyperspeed 11m pole package is just £70, a massive saving on the £199.99 RRP.
A real all-rounder of a pole, the Avanti Hyperspeed 11m comes with three ready elasticated top two sections which feature winder bungs, bushes, and connectors, with elastics rated for silverfish, bream, tench, and small carp, plus big carp and margin fishing.
The 11m length puts you in control of where you want to fish and although not designed as a margin pole, it has the strength of one with solid walls and joints on all of the six main sections.
A smooth finish on the butt section makes for easy shipping and positioning of rigs, while the light carbon top sections mean the pole doesn’t feel heavy in the hand either.
Angling Times gave the pole a workout at a mixed fishery and for the money it’s a real bargain.
“I found it spot on for small carp, skimmers, and tench to over 3lb,” said Angling Times’ Steve Fitzpatrick. “It also handled bigger carp down the edge too where the length gives you extra reach past most standard margin poles,”
The top sections are all 3m (10ft) long – ideal for f¬ishing in deep swims and because they’re all the same length it means you can easily swap between deep and shallow rigs and still be fishing over where you have fed.
Each top kit is colour coded: red connector and bush in the red size 8 10 silverfish elastic, a blue set up in the size 12 14 tench and bream top kit, and green in the 16 18, heavy duty elastic kit.
“If you find you need even more power on the bank, or need to go softer, then you can adjust the tension of the elastic with the pull-out, adjustable winder bungs and away you go,” added Steve.

Go Fishing shop unveils new £100 Pro Spec seatbox deal
Go Fishing’s online tackle shop can this week unveil the new Stillwater SP3 seatbox and footplate system from Chapmans Angling, and have got it at a massively reduced price while stocks last.
The SP3 box (RRP £179.99 Offer price £99.99) is the ultimate in lightweight boxes and has been cleverly designed for the modern stillwater angler.
With most commercial anglers taking less kit with them these days, and taking their float and feeder rods and reels already set up to fish, there’s no need for bulky seatboxes with large base units.
This new box caters for those anglers and is a slimmed down system which combines practicality with plenty of accessory storage, rugged construction, and high levels of comfort.
Angling Times’ Steve Fitzpatrick rates the new box highly and was quick to select it for the new Go Fishing online shop.
“I’d recommend this seatbox system to anyone who fishes on stillwaters and wants comfort and plenty of storage without all the excess weight baggage associated with bigger boxes.
“You can fit loads of pole rigs and accessories in, plus floats, feeders, and all you need for modern commercial venues.”
The Stillwater SP3 seatbox features an impressively padded pole seat with deep storage tray underneath, plus two lined front drawers, a deep, full length cross drawer, and an additional storage tray underneath the drawers – loads of space for all your tackle!
The mid frame design gives the box rigidity and it’s stable on the bank too thanks to the sturdy folding footplate and six extending legs each with self-levelling mudfeet.

The best £50 match reels on the market - now £27.99!
Match tackle brand Stillwater have relaunched their mega-popular TSR match reels this week with the promise of even more value for your money.
This super duo – the TSR3000 front drag match reel and TSR3000RD rear drag feeder reel – sold out within weeks of their original launch thanks to their flagship level build quality at budget level price.
Now their even better value with Stillwater knocking over £20 off the £49.99 RRP for Go Fishing web users and selling them at just £27.99.
Attention to detail is key with these compact-sized reels which were created with the input of top commercial fishery match anglers to be a robust reel which is smooth, fast, and great value for money.
Their tech spec embarrasses many more expensive, big brand reels with 8+1 Ball bearings, two spare metal spools, both single forged aluminium handle and balanced, easy-grip double handles and their own deluxe padded reel cases too.
The TSR3000 front drag is perfect for commercial fisheries, especially pellet waggler, and float fishing on the river, while the rear drag TSR3000RD is designed to match up with the shorter commercial feeder rods most anglers are using right now.
Angling Times’ Steve Fitzpatrick has been using the feeder version of the reel for nearly a year now and he rates it.
“ I have to admit it’s a reel that stays on my commercial feeder rod in a ready rod sleeve and goes everywhere with me.
“The compact size makes it ideal for those 9ft, 10ft, 11ft feeder rods we’re all using on the pools now and it not only looks the part but has the technology to match.
“My TSR3000RD might be covered in groundbait and other bankside crud, but it still comes back for more and feels as good as it did when I first took it out of the box.
At £27.99 now it’s an even better deal than before.”

Stillwater unveil the ultimate rig and bait bag
Carp, match and specimen tackle brand Stillwater have unveiled a new Rig & Bait Bag to cater for all your bait and tackle needs for a session on the bank.
The ultimate carp and pike anglers bag, it features a large main compartment which is fully insulated with heavy duty wipe clean foil to keep your bait – boilies or deadbaits - as fresh as possible even in the summer months.
With your bait stowed away, you need tackle space too, and this bag delivers that in spades, with five well designed pockets/compartments for all your bait and rig accessory boxes, bags and tubs.
On top is a large compartment with dividers for glug pots or leads, and smaller tackle items while the two side pockets are big enough for a couple of tackle storage boxes or sets of scales.
The large front pocket measures 30cm x 20cm x 5cm and has been created with large tackle storage boxes in mind.
Underneath the bag is a waterproof, moulded EVA base which not only keeps the shape of the bag but protects the contents too and as it is zipped you can use it for storing wet items like weigh sacks and slings, or more large-sized tackle storage boxes.
To make it easy to transport then bag also features a padded shoulder strap and carry handles.
Angling Times Steve Fitzpatrick has tested the Stillwater Rig & bait Bag.
He said: “The complete tackle and bait storage solution, this bag is ideal for serious carp and pike anglers or pleasure anglers who fish stillwaters and rivers who want to keep their kit in an organised manner with easy access to it.
“This bag could help you cut down on the amount of kit you cart around from car boot to swim, but still give you loads of storage options.”
