40 minute scrap results in 46lb 12oz common

A mammoth fight lasting 40 minutes resulted in the capture of this 46lb 12oz common from Acton Burnell in Shropshire for Dean Watson.

Fishing in 4ft of water at 50yds range, the managing director of Total Angling Ltd baited an area the size of a pool table with 1kg of Mainline Active 8 18mm boilies and offered a matching hookbait over the top.

He said: “It was without a doubt the hardest fight I have ever had from a carp. My arms were knackered afterwards!”
