Silt area produces brace of specimen commons
After three days without bite, Paul Mepham landed a brace of specimen commons in the space of an hour on the final morning of his session on a southern stillwater.
The biggest of the pair tipped the scales at 32lb and both were caught from a silty area at 80ys range which the 33-year-old, Surrey-based angling coach baited with 1kg of 14mm Richworth KG1 boilies.
He said: “I’d seen fish showing in front of me every day so I knew the carp were visiting the area. It was just a case of persevering and waiting for them to get their heads down for a bit of a feed.”
Paul fished N-V pop-ups on both rods using rigs consisting of 10ins Atomic Tackle Jel-E-Wyre hooklinks and size 6 ESP Stiff Rigger hooks.
