MAP sign up and coming star
Up and coming young match ace Tony Curd has signed for tackle giant MAP.
The 22-year-old from London has already appeared in two Fish O’ Mania finals and also broke the match record at Coleman’s Cottage Fishery in 2010, having also starred in features for Angling Times.
MAP’s Mike Robinson said: “Tony has an incredible list of successes; a list that most anglers wouldn’t achieve in a lifetime. His ability on product feedback and ideas is already proving invaluable and I am really looking forward to the future.”
Lingmere Fishery record smashed
The Lingmere Fishery record has been smashed after Steve Openshaw netted a breathtaking 169lb 6oz during the latest event.
After drawing peg 19 on the Match Lake at the Wirral venue, the venue owner decided to use pellet shallow for F1s to kick start proceedings before coming down the edge later on to fool lots of barbel to 8lb.
Second placed Alan Dewhurst also broke into triple figures with 138lb 7oz, while Bidston’s Andy Kirk completed the frame with 95lb 8oz.
Dick Clegg to attend match fishing series
The Angling Trust has revealed one of the most respected figures in match angling is set to share his expertise with fishermen during a series of events aimed at getting more people into the competitive arm of the sport.
Former England boss Dick Clegg will attend four events at Doncaster’s Hayfield Lakes which have been created to help anglers improve their match fishing skills or make the step up from club level to the open scene.
Events will be staged on the evenings of June 22 and 29 and July 6 and 13, with those entering gaining points in a league system.

Hat trick of wins at Brookside for Jones
Top matchman Paul Jones dominated the field during the latest series of events at Brookside Fisheries, taking top spot in three matches on the bounce.
The Bait-Tech ace started the winning streak with 97lb 10oz from peg 33 on the Snake Pit at the Cheshire complex before sealing another victory just days later with 81lb 6oz against a talented chasing pack.
With the hat-trick in sight he opted to fish in an ultra-positive fashion during the Sunday open and topped the table yet again with 79lb 8oz of skimmers and carp from peg 18 on Willow Lake.
Blundells match record smashed
Top matchman Barry Bush put in a perfect display of shallow fishing during the latest event at Blundells Fishery to smash the venue record with 221lb.
After selecting peg 27 on Trio Pool during the rover event at the Cheshire complex, the Lingmere ace decided to use pellet at 10m in the upper layers and kept F1s to 2lb coming regularly.
Runner up Ian Ridgeway was well behind but still needed 117lb 14oz for second place from peg 3 on the same lake.

Monk Lakes festival dates revealed
One of the nation’s biggest commercial fisheries is on the hunt for anglers to take part in a week long tournament in which the eventual winner could walk away with over £1,000.
Kent’s Monk Lakes will stage the event between June 11 and 15 and Preston Innovations have already signed up to sponsor the competition.
Three of the Match Lakes and Bridges will be used and entry has been set at £145 ‘all in’.

Linger seals big pay day at Puddledock
Top match angler Bobby Linger had double reason to celebrate after the latest open match at Puddledock Farm with his 124lb 4oz net good enough for the win and also a cash pay-out of over £700!
The Ockenden Bait and Tackle man was lucky enough to draw the golden peg 48 out of the draw bag at the Essex fishery but he still had to put on a performance worthy of victory and he did just that by taking carp to double figures on pole and meat.
One more fish for Michael Smith could have put the champagne on ice, with the GOT Baits ace taking 122lb for the runners up spot.
Top six share mega haul in Tylers Common match
There were further signs that commercial carp shoals have fully awoken from their winter slumber when the top six of the latest match at Tylers Common shared over 850lb between them.
Topping an experienced field on the Horseshoe Lake at the Essex fishery was Steve James who managed to land an astonishing 183lb 10oz of carp.
The Ockenden Bait and Tackle ace managed to net fish to 8lb on corn down the margins from peg 11, while runner up Jason Collins of the Browning Wickford squad fished long with pellet to tempt 175lb 10oz into the net.
'Club angler only' matches set to be staged at The Oaks
A series of matches just for club anglers are set to be run at a top commercial complex.
The Oaks in North Yorkshire is set to stage the seven heats of the championships and venue experts will not be allowed to enter in a bid to give the ‘everyday’ angler the opportunity to win.
Entry is limited to 40 senior fisherman and four juniors and the tournament will kick off on July 7 with points being accumulated by the competitors during each session.
Shimano and Dynamite Baits have agreed to donate prizes to the winners of the big final which will see the top ten in the league battle it out on October 6.

Huge silver weights at Monk Lakes
The bream and tench fed in force during the latest event at Monk Lakes with both the top two smashing the triple figure barrier with carp-free hauls.
Leading the way on the day with a breath-taking 113lb 12oz netful was Colin Woods. The Sensas SE ace used pellet and corn on the short pole line from peg 7 on Bridges Lake and kept fish to 4lb coming at regular intervals.
Runner up Kevin Baptist fished slightly further out with the same baits from peg 5 and eventually placed 106lb on the scales.

Andy Oldham bags Hallcroft bonus
Top match angler Andy Oldham had plenty to smile about after the latest match at Nottinghamshire's Hallcroft Fishery after he took top spot and also a £300 golden peg bonus.
The Halkon Hunt ace managed to catch carp on the 13m line in the early stages from peg 22 on Moat Pool Outer but it was a switch to the shallow waggler later in the event that helped him attract bigger stamp fish and a total of 100lb 9oz.
Silverfish played a major part in Paul McIntyre’s second place haul with the Bait-Tech man netting 50lb 12oz of skimmers on pole and pellet.
Ian Heaps bags Holgan Farm festival win
Former England international Ian Heaps proved he has lost none of his class when he stormed to victory during the latest festival at Holgan Farm.
The fishery boss used a variety of tactics during the three day extravaganza at his own complex in Pembrokeshire and recorded three section wins and a 284lb 2oz total. He also took the top individual weight of the tournament with his 169lb carp haul from the Match Lake.
Leeds angler Tim Peters secured second place with six points while Swansea’s Neil Daniels was just a single mark behind in third.
Richards bags Packington Somers league win
The hotly contested Packington Somers winter league came to a conclusion and Lee Richards was able to secure top spot and the £1,000 cash prize despite failing to frame on the day.
After six rounds of action at the Warwickshire fishery, the venue regular was able to land 279lb of fish and record a nine point score – just one less than runner up Steve Edwards who was presented with £500 for his efforts.
On the day itself Maver Solihull AC ace James Evans landed the victory with 62lb 3oz of carp on Method feeder and meat from peg 23 on Molands.
Fishery to stage £1,000 'winner takes all' event
The organisers of a £1000 winner takes all competition are on the hunt for anglers to take part in the big money event.
Nottinghamshire’s Langold Lake will stage the tournament and two qualifiers will be run to decide who makes it to the final.
On April 28 a ‘pole only’ heat is set to be held, while on May 5 rod and line tactics will be the only required.
Ten fishermen from each will make it through to the final on May 12 and tickets are priced at £15.
Bury Hill Fisheries silvers festival revealed
A popular commercial complex has revealed it is set to host a two day silverfish festival.
Surrey’s Bury Hill Fisheries will stage the tournament on April 24 and 25 and no carp will count, with bream and tench expected to dominate proceedings in the event on the Old Lake.

Hallcroft hits top form
The pellet waggler ruled supreme during the latest event at Hallcroft Fishery with eventual winner Paul Elliott using the tactic to bag 145lb 2oz.
After drawing peg 21 on Moat outer, the MAP Leegem ace decided to use the rod and line approach shallow towards the middle and kept carp to 6lb coming to the net at regular intervals during the day.
Runner up Matt Stanhope also used the same method to fool 104lb 9oz from peg 97 on the outer bank.
Alders Farm two day festival to be staged
Over £1,500 in cash is set to be dished out to the leaders of a two day match fishing festival and organisers are on the hunt for competitors to take part.
Milton Keynes bagging haven Alders Farm is set to host a double header on April 6 and 7 and the winner is set to walk away with a £700 payday if the event sells out.

Big perch dominate Kennet and Avon Canal event
Specimen perch proved key to victory during the latest event on the Kennet and Avon Canal with eventual winner Matt Herbert netting several fish to 3lb 6oz.
The Drennan Banbury Gunsmiths ace decided to use worm and caster towards the bush on the far side of his peg in the Potters section and took a number of stripeys over a pound before the best of the day showed up to help him record a 12lb total.
Second place Carl Elland also relied on the species and used similar tactics to place 11lb 1oz on the scales.
