Canal drought ends with 21lb specimen

Andrew Longstaff has endured numerous blank sessions this winter targeting the carp in a local canal, but his perseverance was eventually rewarded with this cracking 21lb common.

Despite the lack of action over the past couple of months, the Somerset-based rod kept the bait going in to the waterway on a regular basis.

The fish came during a short day session on the venue and fell to a 16mm bottom bait boilie. He said: “This is the first carp to be caught from the canal this year so I was really pleased. It just shows that if you put the effort in the rewards are there to be had.”
