Drain produces huge 12lb 14oz zander

Over £2,000 in winnings was handed out during the latest pike match on the Twenty Foot Drain but the event will be remembered most for this stunning 12lb 14oz zander which was banked by Andrew Carter.

The keen predator angler had been taking part in the big money pairs event which was staged close to Beggars Bridge on the Cambridgeshire venue and managed to receive the all-important run after he presented a roach deadbait at close range.

Unfortunately, the fish wasn't eligible to go towards his final weight, with Nottinghamshire’s Ken Edgson and Rod Newton taking home £1540 after they banked a brace of predators for 26lb 13oz. They also took the biggest pike of the day, with Ken weighing in a 22lb 1oz specimen.
