Junior hauls in 33lb leather carp
Charlie Terry couldn’t have asked for better first fish from the eight acre southern gravel pit which he’s recently started targeting than this cracking 33lb 1oz leather.
The Nash Bait junior fieldtester fished towards a weedbed at 20 yards range which he baited with a scattering of Monster Squid Red readymade boilies.
“There was a part of the lake which was on the back of the wind and had the sun on it for the majority of the day,” the 15-year-old West Sussex-based schoolboy told Angling Times. “I had a feeling that the carp would feel comfortable in this area and sure enough, in the early hours of the morning I could hear fish crashing out over the spot. Shortly after, one of my alarms burst in to life and after a really hard fight I eventually got the better of the fish.
His hookbait was offered on a Chod rig tied with a 20lb stiff hooklink material, a size 8 Nash Fang Twister hook and a 1oz pear lead on Core Plus leader.
