Singles success for Darren Belton
THE decision to fish single hookbaits paid off in fine style for Darren Belton who made an impressive 18 fish haul from Elphicks Fisheries’ West End Lake which included six thirties.
The Kent-based Greys Academy member started his four night session by fishing over spodded areas, but with action coming and night time temperatures still dropping below freezing he decided on a change of tactics.
“I found some shallower spots in my swim and just cast out single Mainline Baits Clockwork Orange pop-ups. This started to produce fish straight away,” he told Angling Times. “All the bites came in daylight, yet nothing after dark. In total I managed 12 twenties and six thirties weighing 37lb 8oz, 36lb 4oz, 34lb, 33lb, 32lb and 31lb.”
All of Darren’s fish were caught on KD rigs tied Rigmarole Skinfull hooklinks and ESP hooks.
