Brace of 12lb-plus bream from gravel pit
Taking a chance on an out-of-form venue can sometimes pay off as Simon Ashton found out when he banked a brace of 12lb-plus bream from a Nottinghamshire gravel pit.
The Sonubaits backed angler made the long journey from his County Durham base to a water that hadn’t produced many fish of late, but unfazed, he adopted a bold baiting approach, introducing 30 balls of Hemp & Hali Crush groundbait packed with particles over a spot 60 yards out.
A bream of exactly 12lb fell to his Method feeder and boilie attack during darkness, before an even bigger specimen weighing 12lb 2oz was banked the following morning.
His winning rig was made up of 12lb mainline, a Drennan Gravel Braid hooklink of the same strength and a size 10 Super Specimen Plus hook.
