Crust lures a 2lb 4oz rudd from Fens

A small piece of floating breadcrust was the winning bait for reigning Drennan Cup champion Jamie Cartwright when a session on a Fenland river produced this impressive 2lb 4oz rudd.

The Northamptonshire Specimen Group member spent the morning roving around a few different waterways until he found some fish and then made a cast with a mini Drennan controller float which allowed him to reach the feeding fish with ease.

Jamie, who also banked several other fish to 1lb 9oz during the day, said: “The secret to catching these big fish from the Fens is being prepared to stay mobile and constantly moving around until you locate the larger rudd.”
