Perseverance pays off with 13lb Ouse barbel
The decision to persevere on the River Ouse proved to be a wise one for Garry Tear after he landed this 13lb 1oz barbel.
A string of blanks on the waterway had left the Wellingborough-based rod contemplating a move to either the River Severn, Wye or Trent. Determined not to be beaten, however, he decided to have one more session.
With the water levels fairly low, he set-up a rig consisting of a light lead and a long hooklink with an 8mm boilie hookbait and a PVA bag of freebies.
He said: “After several sessions without a bite I was delighted with this double figure specimen.”
