Sixteen perch to over 3lb banked on prawns
Prawns hookbaits proved to be the key to success for John Deprieelle, who banked no less than 16 perch between 2lb and 3lb 10oz during a day session on Upper Tamar Lake in Cornwall.
The Devon-based all-rounder began the session using maggot feeder tactics and started catching almost straight away. But a change to prawns saw him connect with the better stamp of fish including the above brace of three-pounders.
He said: “There was a strong south westerly wind blowing in to the swim and the fish were obviously shoaled up in good numbers. There can’t be many places in the country which provides such a high average size of perch.”
