Feeder tactics lure a specimen river roach
A return to the sport after an enforced break ended with Vince Cater banking this glistening
1lb 9oz Bristol Avon roach.
Visiting a stretch near his Wiltshire home, he ignored traditional tactics for the species and instead feederfished pellets.
Mashed bread went into the cage feeder, and despite Vince having under two hours on the bank, the session ended with the big redfin being posed for the camera.
“Several years ago I mastered catching roach on pellets and it definitely seems to pick the biggest fish out of the shoal,” explained Vince.
His rig was made up of 7lb Drennan Double Strength mainline and a 10lb braided hooklength to a size 14 hook.
