Huge ling from Norway

The world record shore caught ling has been smashed with the capture of this giant 59lb 8oz specimen.

It was landed by British angler, Phill Hambrook from a deep water mark on the coast of Saltstraumen in Norway.

The Kent based kitchen fitter tempted the giant specimen using a large fish hookbait and 20lb Berkley XTS mainline while under the guidance of John Strange from Guided Fishing Norway. Unfortunately the fish will not be recognised as an official record, as the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) do not differentiate between shore and boat caught specimens, but Phill is claiming a line class record for the species.

The biggest ling ever caught is an incredible 103lb fish boated off Kvenvaer in Western Norway by Wolfgang Gotz in 2012.
