How to catch huge roach

Preston Innovations-sponsored matchman Geoff Vallance had the shock of his life when fishing Hampshire's Baron's Ponds.

His full intention was to practice fishing for the water's many carp, to figure out the best way to put together a match-winning bag.

But the day turned out to be a magical one with his waggler dipping and a fin-perfect 2lb roach coming to the net. Then another... and another...

His very first session ended with him taking over 40lb of the prime roach in under four hours.

Angling Times interviewed Geoff and quickly arranged to meet him there to recreate the wonderful catch at the MBK Leisure-owned complex.
