How to fish the Airfield Lakes complex

Mustang Lake is a brand new day-ticket carp water which is opening its doors to anglers this weekend. Situated on the Airfield Lakes complex in Diss, Norfolk, it is the realisation on a life long dream for fishery manager Rich Wilby, and a huge amount of research and effort has gone into the venue.

The lake is five-acres in size with 14 well spaced and comfortable swims, and has been stocked with 200 stunning carp. The majority of these are now doubles, but there are several twenties and even a couple of thirties among them.

All of the carp have been hand-picked and Rich purposely sourced a variety of strains, including pure Redmire Leneys, Horseshoe x Orchid mirrors, Dinton Pastures offspring, Lea Valley commons, Suttons and Dinks so that anglers never know what type of carp they’re going to catch next.

In this short video, Angling Times’ James Furness caught up with Rich to find out a bit more about the venue and have a look at the rig which he has been using to catch a few of the lake’s residents.
