Britain's most famous angler - John Wilson - is leaving our shores for a new life in Thailand and Angling Times caught up with him for his last UK interview.

Known as TV's Mr Angling for his legendary Go Fishing series of programmes, John talks exclusively about his move, what he'll miss, and the legacy he leaves behind.

He also talks candidly about the damage cormorants and otters have done to our natural ecosystems and why he helped form an action group to save our fish stocks.

His World Feeder Champs individual crown went with team gold and yet another White Acres Festival title - smaller wonder, then, that he was voted match angler of the year by our readers!

Polling over 65 per cent of the vote, Northants-based Steve was a runaway winner, his victory in Ireland confirming what many had always thought - that he is one of the best anglers in the world. His modesty means he'll never admit to that, but as his career advances, his performances become more and more assured.

Angling Times met up with the man at home to present him his prize and then retire to his tackle den to pose Steve questions about fishing, being a professional and big-money matches, among other things...
