37LB Spanish barbel landed

Imagine catching a near-40lb barbel from a lake... well, that’s exactly what happened to David Aldana during a five-day fishing campaign In Spain.
The international big-fish chaser, who has a reputation for catching monster specimens from public waters, latched into this estimated 37-pounder during a recent trip to Lake Orellana, near Don Benito.
Tempting the beast into biting wasn’t that much different to barbel tactics in the UK, as it fell to a 20mm boilie offering fished over freebies.
David said: “Low winter temperatures are best for catching barbel in this part of the world.”
