3lb 8oz Linch Hill roach shock
“This roach was so stunning it makes me want to target the species by design.” So said Nick Russell, following his accidental capture of a giant 3lb 8oz redfin.
The Linch Hill Fisheries head bailiff caught it during a carp fishing session on the Oxfordshire venue’s popular Willow Lake.
Targeting a gravel bar around 40 yards out, Nick tempted the three-pounder, and another specimen weighing 2lb 8oz, on a blowback rig. He baited with a 12mm Sticky Manilla Wafter fished over a bed of broken 12mm boilies.
He said: “It just goes to show that this venue isn’t just about carp. There have always been huge roach in here – I’m surprised more people don’t fish for them.”
