Blue shark record smashed

This is a history-making blue shark that weighed in at a colossal 256lb.

UK angler John Dines boated the huge predator while he and a group of friends were aboard
the Penzance-based charter boat ‘Bite Adventures’, skippered by Robin ‘Chippy’ Chapman andbacked by tackle manufacturer Fin-Nor.

The shark smashes the current British record for the species that currently stands at 214lb, a fish caught in 1959.

The specimen is currently being considered as a catch-and-release record by the Shark Angling Club of Great Britain (SACGB) The fish was returned safely.
