Change pays off to the tune of 16lb 6oz barbel

A visit to a new stretch of waterway paid dividends for Matt Hughes when he landed this 16lb 6oz barbel.

The angler from Birmingham fancied his chances on a different stretch of the River Trent to his usual spot, and it worked a treat when he tempted the specimen at first light.

Matt was legering a homemade boilie fished along with a PVA bag of boilies. 

His end tackle consisted of a 4oz lead on a drop-off system with an E-S-P Gripper hook tied to a Korda N-Trap hooklink.
