Monster 37lb pike landed
Simon Ashton cradles a 37lb pike which the County Durham angler said gave him “the best fight I’ve ever had with a rod in my hand” when he made his annual visit to Holland. It fell to lure fishing tactics and smashed his previous personal best by 10lb.
“To say this is up there with the greatest achievement in my angling life would be an understatement,” he said. “On the way back to the marina we stopped off at one last perch hotspot and I racked up two newpersonal bests in the space of 20 minutes. “These fish weighed 4lb 12oz and 4lb 9oz, and signalled an end to the finest day’s fishing I’ve ever experienced.”
