Perfection is a big perch on a prawn
Dick Walker famously said that the perch was the biggest fish of all, and this 4lb 2oz specimen landed by Craig Fletcher certainly supports that view.
Targeting Kings Nordley Fishery in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, Craig targeted the margins, where he fed red maggots with tuna red groundbait on a little-and-often basis.
Over his feed Craig fished a running rig on 8lb line straight through to a size 10 wide gape hook to ensure that the fish felt minimal resistance.
A large prawn hookbait soaked in liquid worm and dyed red for added attraction proved irresistible to the prickly predator, which was landed just before 10am.
