Three rudd over 2lb fall to pop-ups

Robb Knapp beat his rudd pb twice in the same session with fish of 2lb 8oz and 2lb 3oz.

The Bordon Angling Centre-backed specimen hunter fished over a bed of hemp, dead maggots and groundbait at 70yds during a session at a stillwater in Surrey.

Other rudd weighing 2lb 1oz and 1lb 14oz joined the impressive brace. Robb fished either a maggot feeder or a bright, popped-up boilie – butit was the latter that produced all three fish over 2lb.

“The maggot feeder brought the smaller rudd, but it was the boilie that really did the trick. There was a lot of algae in the lake, so the high-viz baits really came into their own,” said Robb.
