30lb-plus brace of barbel

Big fish hunter Rob Murfin made the most of dropping river levels with a brace of barbel that went 30lb 4oz.

Targeting a part of the Trent that he had been pre-baiting for two months, Rob had to pick himself up after losing an unseen monster.

“I lost a fish that I simply couldn't stop,” Rob revealed.

“It flat-rodded me 80 yards across the river and snagged me up. I was slowly gaining on it as I pulled hard but then it kicked its tail and it was off.

“But I picked myself up and landed this cracking brace of barbel during the night, the biggest of which went 15lb 7oz.”
