DESPITE not knowing the perch stocks in his 40-acre syndicate lake, Simon Ashton still banked a quartet of specimens weighing 2lb 8oz, 3lb 15oz, 4lb and 4lb 6oz.
The specialist from Durham fed two spots with maggots, chopped worms and groundbait, before fishing lobbies over the top.
He says:
“The big ’un was a new personal best and fought like a tench as it kited about 20yds before surfacing. I couldn’t believe my eyes when it went in the net.”
