Fishing harness launched for disabled anglers

A NEW fishing harness designed to help anglers who have only limited use of their limbs has been launched this week.

Created by engineer James Wardle, the clever device features a tube mounted on a 3D printed base plate into which the butt of a rod can be slotted. This removes the need to hold the rod, meaning that the user only needs one functional arm to
fish effectively.

The invention will benefit anglers suffering from arthritis, or who have missing or damaged arms or hands, and James revealed interest in the product is already growing.

“We’ve had several private orders so far, and our first bulk commercial order is on the production line for a registered charity, so things are picking up nicely,” he told us.

“They’re available in two sizes, and I hope they can really make a difference to a wide range of disabled anglers.”

The harnesses cost £65. For details please check out James Wardle’s Facebook page.
