Fishing in schools thanks to Angling Projects scheme

FREE tackle has been donated to schools in a bid to get more kids fishing, thanks to the continuing hard work of Les Webber’s Angling Projects.

The Gateway School in Towcester was the latest of 50-60 schools to receive a tackle donation from Angling Projects, who provided the school with and estimated £400 of kit for teacher and keen angler Laura Creed to setup a fishing club.

Project founder, Les Webber MBE told Angling Times:

“As a lot of us know, its so important that we get youngsters into the sport and schools are the perfect place to do it.

“Angling can really turn kids around, so we provide schools with as much kit as possible, boxes, rods, reels and books – everything you need to go fishing!

“We rely on people donating us old tackle and have now gained support from Angling Direct in Reading.

“People can bring their old tackle into the store and once donated they are entered into a prize raffle for an added incentive.”
