NEW fishing game coming this summer...

If you’ve ever played a fishing game, there’s a good chance you were disappointed with unrealistic tackle, baits and techniques leading to a feeling that the creators didn’t have much of a clue what angling is all about.

This could all be about to change with the release of ‘The Catch: Carp and Coarse’.

Set to be available this summer on PC, XBox and PlayStation, this is the latest offering from Dovetail Games, the same company that produced hit games Fishing Sim World and Euro Fishing.

“We’ve really taken things to the next level to make the experience as close to reality as possible,” a spokesman told us.

“We’ve visited many of the featured lakes in the UK and have included accurate depths and graphics, as well as mapping features. The behaviour of the fish will be impacted by the weather conditions and the time of day for extra realism.”

One issue with fishing games is that they often only feature far-flung locations, but in The Catch, you can go closer to home. You can visit Linear Fisheries to catch carp, tench and roach, or fish Scotland’s Loch Meiklie for pike. With so much uncertainly around when we’ll be able to get on the bank again, at least we have some form of fishing to look forward to.
