Biggest match weight of the year so far

One of the best bagging waters in the land has managed to produce the two biggest match weights taken at any venue this year – in just one week.

Buckinghamshire’s Alders Farm is home to huge shoals of carp and the Match Lake came to life during the Remenham AS event, with eventual winner Graham Dodd needing a staggering 458lb 10oz of meat tempted carp to take victory. Backing weights were equally mesmerising, with seven others breaking the double ton on the day.

Just a few days later things got even better when the Red Lion Match Group turned up.

Fully aware of the venues potential, the lads went all out for big weights with George Kay managing to smash his club’s and the venue record with 485lb 13oz on short pole and paste.

Runner up Tony Kay also had sore shoulders at the final whistle, hammering out 360lb 14oz on corn and pellet.
