Huge roach landed in Messingham Sands match

The first silverfish event of the year at Messingham Sands turned out to be a memorable one for Steve Ellis after he netted a 2lb 14oz roach.

After tackling up on the popular Island Pool and the Scunthorpe complex, the former Division One National champion decided to fish casters on a light rig and was rewarded with lots of smaller samples before the specimen made an appearance.

Unfortunately he was unable to gain a place in the frame, with venue boss Kevin Johnson sealing the victory with 39lb 11oz of redfins and skimmers.
