Old school tactic still produces the goods

PVA stringers might not be the most in vogue tactic but Sioned Edwards proved just how effective they can be when she landed four carp, including this 20lb 2oz common, from a Welsh syndicate water.

It was her first outing in three months due to illness and due to the cold winter conditions she didn’t want to risk overfeeding any carp in front of her so simply cast out pop-up hookbaits on rigs incorporating 20lb Fox Coretex and size 6 SSBP hooks in conjunction with single bait stringers.

As well as the pristine common, her haul also included a second twenty in the form of a chunky 23lb 8oz mirror.
