Unique approach fools 3lb 2oz perch
A pungent groundbait mix helped Martin Florin net this 3lb 2oz perch from a club water.
The Bedfordshire-based rod settled on a peg that had a history of producing big fish and introduced plenty of maggots and chopped worm over a bed of mussel flavoured groundbait.
Despite gaining very little action in the opening stages, his luck changed late in the afternoon when the specimen fell for a half lobworm and red maggot cocktail.
“I knew it was a good fish as soon as I hooked it and when it went over the net I had a feeling it could be over 3lb. Thankfully it was and it made my efforts more than worthwhile,” explained Martin.
