4lb 1oz perch shows what canals can offer
Teenage angler Jack Hosier proved that canals are home to much more than just small silverfish when he banked this 4lb 1oz perch from the Grand Union Canal.
Targeting a stretch close to his Hertfordshire base, the 16-year-old presented a gudgeon livebait close in.
The impressive predator – which he beat his previous perch best by over 1lb 8oz – took his hookbait less than half an hour in to the session.
He said: “The perch put up a great fight and just shows what cracking fish some the country’s canals have to offer.”
