Daughter helps dad catch 39lb 8oz mirror carp
A father-and-daughter fishing trip ended in the capture of this lean 39lb 8oz mirror known as The Long Fish.
Charlie Hayes banked the specimen during an overnight session with 10-year-old daughter Lucy at Swan Valley Fisheries in Hampshire.
The Reading rod said: “Lucy was desperate to use the catapult and to my surprise she was excellent – a lot more accurate than me!
“At roughly 5am my middle rod roared off and the fight was epic. As soon as I netted the fish I knew it was a chunk under all the weed – I couldn’t believe how long the fish was. I was so made up as this was one of my target fish, however, Lucy now seems to think it’s half hers!”
Charlie fished Sticky Krill boilies on KD rigs.
