Canal tench and rudd go through their paces

You don’t need to visit a commercial to make bumper big fish catches, as Russell Hilton proved with this stunning net of tench and rudd from a canal.

The Somerset angler polefished his local Taunton Angling Association stretch of the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal, where he used chopped worm and caster to bag six tench to 4lb along with three rudd over 1lb.

Russell targeted the deeper water down the track using a 0.5g pole float, black hydro elastic and a size 14 hook.
