Amazing 4lb 13oz perch falls to a lure!
This superb 4lb 13oz perch is further proof of just how deadly spinners and lures can be for targeting the species.
Doncaster-based specialist Dave Ladds set a new personal best when he banked the huge specimen from a local stillwater. After trying most of the plastic lures in his tackle box with no success, Dave tied on a small silver spinner, a move which proved to be a masterstroke.
After retrieving it close to the bottom he induced the all-important take from the pocket predator, the same tactics also accounting for another good perch weighing 2lb 11oz. “I caught my previous personal best of 4lb 8oz on a livebait, and ever since then it’s been an ambition of mine to catch a ‘four’ on a lure,” Dave told Angling Times.
