Bailiff’s 6lb 5oz Nene chub best
A chub over the 6lb mark is a rare fish for the River Nene, so imagine Mark Smith’s delight when he slipped the net under this 6lb 5oz example.
The Peterborough & District AA bailiff used homemade cheesepaste in conjunction with 6lb mainline, a 5lb hooklink and a size 10 barbless hook to set a new pb for the species.
“The chub fishing on the Nene this season has been hard, with low and clear conditions, so the chance of a two-hour session at last knockings was not to be missed,” said Mark.
“I landed a season’s best chub of 5lb 10oz and 15 minutes later my new pb and only my fifth Nene chub over 6lb was safely in the net.”
