Giant bream pair landed

A day-ticket fishery has produced two bream together scaling 27lb 8oz.
The amazing catch, made up of specimens weighing 14lb 1oz and 13lb 7oz, was by Sonubaits and E-S-P-backed angler Simon Ashton, who made the long journey from his home in Durham to the renowned big-fish complex Linear Fisheries in Oxfordshire.
After a biteless night, Simon woke to see fish rolling in his swim, so he quickly rebaited his rods – one with worm and one with artificial maggots – and recast.
The 41-year-old tempted both the fish at dawn using helicopter rigs with feeders filled with maggots and chopped worms.
The larger of the two bream sets a new personal best for a shocked Simon, who said: “There are only three known bream in Manor Lake at Linear, so when I hooked the first fish I thought I had foul-hooked a tench. I was gobsmacked when I saw a giant slab roll at the net.”
Simon’s set-up comprised 10lb Drennan Syncro XT mainline tied to short 5ins Drennan Soft Ghost fluoro hooklinks with Drennan Boilie hooks in sizes 10 and 12.
