Fine perch pair landed

lobworms floatfished just one rodlength from the bank accounted for these two impressive perch.

The specimens scaled 4lb 11oz and 3lb 15oz, and were banked by specialist rod Jamie Stanley. Fishing a southern stillwater, the perch fishing fanatic from Poole, Dorset spotted the big fish feeding in a shallow area of the lake, so he introduced a bed of groundbait laced with dead maggots and fished a simple rig over the top.

“The fish were in the shallow water feeding on tadpoles, and I could just see these huge spiked fins in between the reeds,” said Jamie.

“This is an incredible water and has so much potential – in factI haven’t had a fish from here that’s been under 3lb.” He used a simple waggler rig with 4lb line tied straight through to the hook.
