no crucians, then a pair of 3lb specimens

Mark Doherty enjoyed a fantastic surprise during his latest fishing session by catching three specimen crucians – and all from a venue that hadn’t produced a single example of the species for years.

Nine years ago around 500 crucians were stocked into Moulden Hill Lake, near Swindon, Wilts, but none had been out for some time.

Fishing a simple waggler set-up with maggots around three rodlengths out from the bank, the Monster Baits and Dips-backed angler managed to catch a brace of 3lb 1oz crucians topped by this 3lb 7oz specimen.

Mark told Angling Times: “This was a session I will never forget.”
