orfe record is equalled
A session spent fishing for golden orfe at a southern stillwater paid off in style for Lawrence King, who has landed a fish equalling the current British record of 8lb 5oz.
The Surrey-based rod told Angling Times: “My first cast produced a 6lb 8oz tench, before I lost an orfe of around 5lb – I was gutted, as my target was one of 4lb-plus.
“It was hard going after that, until my friend left early. I then moved into his swim and had the big one within 20 minutes – I was blown away by this absolutely absurd unit of a fish!”
Lawrence tempted his personal best on a Free Spirit 1lb tc rod, 6lb mainline, a Guru Method feeder and a critically-balanced pellet hookbait.
