On a roll with two big bream

The sight of rolling bream helped Nathan Burgess track down two of them, including this 11lb 11oz specimen. He hooked into pair during a session at a northern stillwater, when he Spombed out a bed of Sensas Magic groundbait laced with dead red maggots and a handful of pellets to gain their confidence.

Over this Nathan cast three bolt rigs consisting of 2oz inline leads, 6ins-long 8lb Drennan Supplex fluorocarbon hooklinks and size 10 Guru hooks baited with a worm head or three artificial casters. A PVA bag of 4mm halibut pellets was attached to each rig before casting.

Nathan told Angling Times: “I had plenty of liners, then the bites finally came at around 4am. Neither of these fish was a personal best, but it was a good brace for that water.”
