6lb 10oz eel landed
The only bite of Jackie Proud’s first eel fishing session of 2017 produced this 6lb 10oz personal best.
She fished a roach head tight to an island at a local stillwater in Bedfordshire when the huge fish made an appearance.
It was beaten with 12lb mainline, a size 3 hook and a wire trace, and tops her previous personal best that stood at 5lb 2oz.
“It was still a little cold for eels so I was somewhat surprised when I hooked one. The big shock was how big it was. Not a bad start to the season at all!” said Jackie.
